I don't have a PC so I'm not able to do the whole watch on demand thing with Netflix but my fiancee does so we watched "King of California"
over the weekend. On the surface it's about a story about a lunatic father and his daughter going on a treasure hunt in suburbia, but the larger theme is
suburban sprawl and the way beautiful land is being carved up into cookie-cutter development. Despite some flaws, the film was amusing, especially when Michael
Douglas (who plays...

It's a great film, despite the fact that the main character's moodiness starts to wear on you toward the end. The humor and social commentary is excellent. I love how it deals with the whole decline of western civilization. The scene at the bar for example where the band gets up to play "authentic blues" and ends up being some lame bar band that all the drunks dance to...

I first watched RUDYLAND, a documentary dealing with Rudy Guliani's reign as mayor of New York City. While Guliani's actions to "clean up" the city were considered controversial by some, the film makers did an excellent job of not biasing the film in support of or against Guliani.
